Dual Creator Cam

Privacy Policy

Your recordings stay on your iPhone. Analytics stay anonymous.

Dual Creator Cam (“the app”) is a dual-camera iPhone utility published by Harrison Wheeler. This document describes what the app does and does not collect.

The short version

Your photos and videos never leave your device through the app — they are saved straight to your Photos library and are never uploaded to us or anyone else. The only data the app sends off the device is a small amount of anonymous product analytics that helps us understand how the app is used and where it can be improved. It is never tied to your name, email, or any identifier that points back to you, and it is never used to advertise to you or track you across other apps and websites.

What the app collects

The app collects two kinds of anonymous, aggregate product analytics:

Usage events (Mixpanel)

The app records a handful of behavioural events so we can see how people move through setup and recording — for example: app launched, onboarding started, a permission was requested, onboarding completed, and a recording started, stopped, saved, or failed to save. Each event is attached to your device’s app version and platform (always “iOS”).

These events are sent to Mixpanel, a third-party product-analytics service, and are keyed only to an anonymous, randomly generated per-install identifier (a device/app-instance ID created by Mixpanel). We never attach your name, email address, Apple ID, advertising identifier (IDFA), or any other personal detail. No event includes the contents of your photos or videos. Because no advertising identifier is used, this is not tracking as defined by Apple’s App Tracking Transparency — the app does not ask to track you and does not track you across other apps or websites.

As part of delivering these events, Mixpanel also derives an approximate location — at the level of city, region, or country — from the IP address your device connects with. This is coarse only (never precise GPS), is not linked to your identity, and is used solely to understand roughly where the app is used. The app itself never requests or accesses your device’s location.

Onboarding survey (anonymous)

During onboarding the app may ask what you plan to use it for. If you answer, your selection is submitted anonymously to our analytics database (hosted on Apple’s CloudKit) so we can understand which use cases matter most. The submission carries no identifier that links it back to you. Answering is optional.

This data is used only to improve the app. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.

How recordings are stored

Video files recorded by the app are temporarily stored in the app’s local sandbox while a recording is in progress. When a recording finishes, the file is moved to your Photos library (with your permission). The temporary copy in the app’s sandbox is then no longer needed and may be cleaned up by the system.

Recordings are never uploaded anywhere. They live on your device unless you share them through iOS share sheets, AirDrop, Files, or another app.

Permissions

PermissionReason
CameraRequired to capture video and photos.
MicrophoneRequired to record audio with your videos. Optional — if denied, recordings will be silent.
Photo Library (add-only)Required to save finished recordings to your Photos library.

You can change any of these in Settings → Dual Creator Cam at any time.

Children’s privacy

The app is rated 4+. The anonymous analytics described above contain no personal information and are not directed at children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children or anyone else.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is ever updated, the new version will be published at this URL and the “Last updated” date above will be revised. Material changes will be highlighted in the app’s release notes.
